Rev. Dr. Shannon Canoy

Pastor Shannon has served as Senior Pastor of LifeChurch since September 2014. Before coming to LifeChurch, he served as Associate Pastor of First Assembly of God in Worcester, Massachusetts, beginning in August 2010. His passion is helping people understand God’s Word, grow in their relationship with Jesus, and put their faith into practice.

His background includes military service on active duty in the United States Air Force from 1991 to 1997, working in Signals Intelligence and Personnel, followed by service in the Air Force Reserve from 1997 to 1999. From 2007 to 2015, he served in the Air National Guard as a Chaplain’s Assistant in the Office of the Chaplain.

Pastor Shannon earned a bachelor’s degree in Personnel Administration in 1997, a Graduate Certificate of Christian Studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a PhD in Theology from Manda University. His doctoral research examined how biblical values shape Christian ethical decision-making. He received his License to Preach in 2016 and was ordained in 2019 through the Southern New England Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God.

Shannon and his wife, Maria, have been married since November 1992. They have three sons: Jonathan, who serves as LifeChurch’s Associate Pastor; Joseph, a Captain in the United States Space Force; and James, LifeChurch’s Worship Leader. Jonathan and his wife, Rebecca, have three children—Jonathan Jr., Sadie, and Luke. Joseph and his wife, Sara, have two children—Joseph Jr. and Charlotte.

Outside of ministry, Pastor Shannon enjoys hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family—especially all the duties of being “Pop Pop.”
